Test Your PC — The Free 2-Minute Computer Health Check

Computers rarely die without warning — they complain first. This free self-check from Computer Systems Depot walks you through the warning signs we diagnose every day in our Lauderhill shop. Read each group of symptoms, count how many sound like your computer, and the score at the bottom tells you honestly what to do next — including when the answer is “nothing, you’re fine.”

YOUR RESULTS

What your count actually means

Your computer is doing fine, and we won’t pretend otherwise to sell you a service. Two things keep it that way: install updates when they ask, and have a backup that runs automatically — because healthy computers still get stolen, dropped, and rained on. If you don’t have a real backup, that’s the one thing worth a call: 954-637-7300.

One or two symptoms usually means something specific and fixable: a drive filling up, dust choking a fan, startup bloat, or an aging component starting to complain. Caught now, it’s a quick, inexpensive visit — often same-day. Ignored for six months, it graduates into the next category. Start an intake below or call and describe what you checked; we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s worth bringing in.

Multiple symptoms across this list means the computer is compensating for a real problem — failing hardware, an infection, or deep software corruption. It will keep limping until the day it doesn’t, and that day always lands mid-project. Bring it in for a proper diagnosis: we identify the actual cause, quote you clearly before any work, and tell you honestly whether the machine is worth fixing. Most diagnoses dropped off before noon are answered the same day.

Those symptoms point to malware, and malware doesn’t wait politely — it collects passwords, spreads to your contacts, and digs in deeper the longer it runs. Stop online banking and shopping on that machine now, and get it cleaned. Our virus removal service handles this same-day in most cases. If you’re seeing a ransom demand: disconnect from Wi-Fi, leave the computer on, and call 954-637-7300 immediately.

These are the sounds and signs of a hard drive physically failing. Every additional minute of use can scrape away data that was recoverable an hour ago — this is the one situation where continuing to use the computer directly destroys your photos and files. Power it off, don’t retry it, and bring it to us. Data recovery is one of our specialties: over 1,600 successful recoveries and counting.
